Orange Whelk also known as Knobbed Whelk and Busycon Carica, are a species of large predatory sea snails found within the North Atlantic coast from Florida to Massachusetts and is the State shell of both New Jersey and Georgia.

Orange Welk shares a lot in common with the lightning whelk with the main difference being an Orange Whelk has a Dextral opening to the shell meaning the opening is on the right side Whereas Lighting Whelks have there opened on the Left Side,  they get the name Orange Whelk from the Orange coloration found on the inner shell from bright orange to a soft peach in color.
