Red Abalone also known as Haliotis Rufescens are renowned for its beauty and size, they are the largest of the Abalone family commonly found in water near California and Mexico also they are considered a delicacy among seafood connoisseurs. Due to their very unique shell sporting several natural holes and pearlish texture when polished, it is widely used as incense burners, as well as using pieces of the shell in crafts. The inner part of the shell is polished.
